Spectre Review: Affordable Price and Powerful Camera

By D. Albert · On August 22, 2018

The Spectre by TRNDlabs is a powerful camera drone offered at a very affordable price. For those wanting to start out their drone hobby and want a mid-tier-priced drone, this may be the one for you. Ranging from $150 to even as low as $70 on sales, it can be an excellent catch if you get it at a discount.

Note: It is on sale right now at $69 at www.trndlabs.com

The first thing about Spectre is its 720p 2.0 MP camera. At its core, the Spectre’s camera can compete with higher end camera drones. It also has user-friendly controls, which can ease the learning curve when trying out drones. The most problematic (and most common reason for interested users quitting) is a drone’s controls. Most new users expect controlling a drone’s flight and motion being easy. That can be very far from the truth, especially when it comes to drones with advanced controllers.

The Spectre’s controller involves two large analog sticks, similar to that of a PlayStation controller’s. As far as controllers go, it is just about as simple as you can get without sacrificing action accuracy. The Spectre also offers user-friendly features like auto take-off and auto landing. This can help newer users in learning how to operate it, while also taking care of the hardest parts of flying.

Another user-friendly feature is its Hold option while flying. For aspiring photographers, or just people wanting to take a picture, this makes a lot of difference. Having the drone stay in the same elevation can be a great help getting that perfect shot.

The Plus and Minus:

(+) 720p camera

(+) Low costs, currently at $69 (from $150)

(+) Accurate and easy to control, user-friendly features

(+) Light and Portable

(+) Remote control can reach up to 50 meter distance

(-) 7 minute flight time

(-) Camera is decent, but you may want to look elsewhere for more serious photography

The DroneAddicts.net Verdict:

At its base price of $150, the Spectre drone offers a number of features that can make learning how to fly one easier. You also get a great camera out of it, which can also start your journey towards photography. Although you may want to upgrade eventually, TRNDlabs’ Spectre drone is an excellent drone to start with. At its price, you get a lot, but it won’t hurt watching out for sales, as prices for the Spectre can go down to about half.

If you want a starter camera drone that can be easy to learn – while also having a small budget – this may be the right one for you.
