Spry Drone Review: A Master of Both Air and Sea

By D. Albert · On August 31, 2018

As far as drones are concerned, they can be quite the hobby. You get to see places from a fresh set of eyes, while also getting to play around in the air. But for some, maybe flying a drone just isn’t enough fun to contain them for very long.

Maybe you got bored from all the sightseeing, the birds, and the skies. Maybe the view isn’t all that great, or you may just be getting bored of flying drones altogether. For those drone users who want something more from these flying machines, this next drone may be for you.

The Spry Drone Cometh

For those not wanting to limit themselves to the skies, the Spry Drone offers something more – in the form of a hybrid creation. This drone can fly to the skies and dive underwater. Not only can this drone navigate efficiently through the skies, its underwater movement is also amazing to see. Its capabilities of both being an aerial and underwater drone makes it a very versatile tool for people to have.

From the minds of Swellpro, a company specializing in waterproof drones, comes the next underwater explorer. The Spry is an amazingly crafted drone that can easily shift between flying and diving. With its waterproof exterior, you can be sure that it can safely plunge into the abyss and back without any damage to its technical side. Swellpro did such an amazing job that it can stay submerged and navigate around using the very same propellers that keep it flying in the air. Once the propellers stop, the design of the Spry causes the entire drone to return to the water surface. The ability to float is essential since it makes it possible for the drone to land on the water’s surface, or even use it as a launching pad to take flight. Backers of the drone’s Kickstarter will receive discounts when sales come in at December this year.

Plus and Minus

(+) Incredibly versatile usage

(+) Floats on the water’s surface when inactive (does not require any power)

(+) Can use water as a landing pad

(+) 12 Megapixel camera, 4K resolution and 30 FPS video recordings

(+) Can reach 43 MPH at full power

(+) Waterproof exterior and waterproof controller

(-) Expensive; retail hovers around $1000 during its release

(-) Not yet released in public

DroneAddicts.net Verdict

The Spry drone is an amazingly versatile camera drone to have at your fingertips. With it, the limits of your drone decreases dramatically. Having a waterproof drone can save you from water accidents while flying. The design is efficient, making use of the same parts to make both flying and diving easy – without adding extra weight. As a flyer, it has excellent speed and has a powerful camera to boot. Underwater, it can still move around while taking videos of the sights. As long as you have the funds to invest in such a hybrid beast, then you can consider yourself both a master of air and sea.

If i could give this product and this company a minus rating i would. I purchased this product on kick starter and I still have not revived it after two years. i have tried multiple ways to contact the company and i do not get any answers. Please say away from this product and company as they are truly a scam of an organization.
