Score one for our boys in quad propellers. A drone owned by the Stockton Police Department recently tracked down two suspects involved in attempted homicide. This led to a safe, efficient, and fast action by the police department.
With the recent influx of government bodies opting to add drones in their services, it’s no surprise that their effects are starting to be seen. Drones can make the lives of their owners a lot easier. From firefighters to Search and Rescue teams; the benefits of an aerial device providing vision and information is unparalleled. These drones can turn the tide and give information to first responders, giving them time to prepare. For police officers, it gives them data to protect themselves against armed suspects.
Stockton Police Drone:
The camera mounted on the drone made it easy for its operator to check for firearms on the suspects. This makes the drone a viable scout, checking the surroundings before the police arrive on the scene. Police can then enter a crime scene with knowledge of the area in real-time, making it safer to navigate. They can also call for reinforcements in the event that the drone detected chance of hostility. In this case, a suspect carrying a firearm. If it were just the police officers entering the scene without this knowledge, it may have ended badly.
It really pays off to have a mechanical scout to enter an area with a bird’s eye view.
The apprehended suspects had their weapons confiscated after the arrest. They had a total of three different handguns between them. They arrive at the station with multiple weapons charges. The case was open and shut; very efficiently played out and had zero injuries or casualties. No harm done both to the suspects and the police officers chasing after them.
I would say that’s a pretty good day at the station. The Stockton Police has a total of six different police drones in their arsenal, so this is only the beginning. Say goodbye to going in an area blindly; the Stockton police have a powerful aerial scout at their disposal.
