Those looking for a more ‘serious’ use for drones should look no further. The next drone we will talk about is not for mere recreation. It serves to guard your homes like a faithful guardian while you sleep, or while you are away.
Sunflower Labs Drone
The security company Sunflower Labs has created a guard drone built with impressive specs. The idea combines a drone (your basic quadcopter) along with motion/vibration detectors and a main control panel. These parts, when working hand in hand, create a very versatile and powerful home security system. The whole system keeps you updated via an app you can have on your phone.
The sensors are placed around your home and yard. They ‘blend in’ with the surroundings by looking like part of the area. These then work day and night to check for unusual vibrations or motion around them. Once spotted something, they will relay the information to the brain (a drone station) and inform you of actions done (via your smartphone’s app). The drone then moves to the area to check it personally.
A Different Kind of Security
Sunflower’s system has a great selling point. Aside from the drone-based surveillance, its cameras and sensors can also differentiate humans and animals. This means you will not receive false alarms if a pet or a wild animal (say a squirrel) enters your lawn.
Sunflower Labs plans to implement this security system on a subscription-based plan. Here, interested clients pay on a monthly basis to get Sunflower security in their homes.
Those wanting to get one today may be in for a bit of a wait. The Sunflower Lab drone is not set for release until 2020 or even later. This means that for now, you still have to make do with older methods like locks and dogs. The age of guard drones may still be a way off.
