On October 1st, an MQ-9 Reaper was shot out of the air by Houthi rebels somewhere in Western Yemen. The Pentagon confirmed this incidence, although the initial reports came from the Houthi new network, SABA. They reported that the Houthi rebel forces shot the $16 million dollar drone out of the air near Sanaa.
A Reuter’s reporter claims that they witnessed the drone’s destruction at around 11 in the morning in Sanaa, where locals gathered around the wreckage to see what had happened. The Yemeni television network, Al-Masirah, also shared video showing rebels firing a missile that may have shot the drone out of the sky.
There are several videos available showing the locals of the area surrounding the fallen MQ-9.

The Civil War in Yemen has been raging on for over 2 years, with over 10,000 casualties. The Houthi rebels are supported by Iran, while the US-backed Saudi-led coalition attempts to suppress their activities. The MQ-9 Reaper is a highly sophisticated drone designed for the United States Air Force.
